Already have lead experience but looking to sharpen your skills? The Lead Lab is a focused, 90-minute "tune-up" session designed for climbers who don't need the full 5-hour introductory course but want professional feedback on specific techniques.
This lab is the perfect mid-step if you:
Need a refresher on lead belaying or switching from an ATC to a GriGri.
Recently took the Learn to Lead course but want more coached practice before your belay check.
Received specific feedback during a lead check on skills that need work.
Want to practice falling, clipping, or managing significant weight differences.
Because this is a small-format class, your instructor will tailor the session to what you and your partner need most. Common focus areas include:
Slack Management: Keeping the belay dynamic with proper slack given the climber's position on the wall.
Refining Clipping and stances: Practicing clipping techniques and finding secure stances.
Controlled Falling: Building confidence for both the climber and the belayer in a controlled and supportive setting.
Experience: Prior lead belay experience or completion of DYNO’s Learn to Lead course is required.
Partners: You must sign up with a partner who also meets the prerequisites or is already Lead Certified at DYNO.
Age: 16 years or older.
Members: $35 | Non-Members: $50
Provided Gear: We provide climbing rope, Assisted-Braking Devices (ABD), and an Edelrid Ohm if needed.
